At Kehelland Village School, our music curriculum aims to inspire creativity and self-expression, encouraging our children on their personal musical journeys, as well as giving them many opportunities to connect with others. We hope to foster a lifelong love of music by exposing Kehelland pupils to diverse musical experiences. Through listening and responding to different musical styles and finding their voices as singers, instrumentalists, performers and composers, our intention is that they become confident and reflective musicians.
‘Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity’ (The National Curriculum).
The subject leader for Music is Mrs. Marion Davies. Mrs. Davies is an enthusiastic (rather than a talented) musician, who sang in the church choir as a child, on the proviso that she was NEVER asked to sing a solo. She is therefore very understanding of performance nerves. She learned to play the flute to Grade 5 as an adult, in order to inspire her own children to continue with their music studies.
